I’m John Geffert, a combat veteran, distance runner, husband, and the writer behind Deep in the Trenches. I’m also an Enrolled Agent, financial advisor, and partner of Financial Independence Advisors – a wealth management practice.
I enlisted in the Army just after graduating from high school. During my eight years, I spent 27 months in the Middle East over two combat deployments and traveled to more than a dozen countries. In 2012, I received an honorable discharge while holding the positions of Staff Sergeant, Diving Supervisor, and Squad leader.
My wife Kelly and I have been together since 2008 and married since 2014. We share many passions, with only a few more important to us than our love for animals and their well-being. Because of our love for animals, we have a house full of them. We have three pugs, George, Walter, Bea, and two cats, Dougie and Janey. When we’re not in the South Shore, you’ll likely find us at our home away from home, Harpswell, Maine.
I started Deep in the Trenches to provide clarity around topics investors should understand as they travel the path towards financial independence.
